Wheel Alignment Won’t Fix Worn Suspension Parts

We see this pretty often: a customer comes in asking for a wheel alignment because the car feels loose, pulls on the freeway, or the steering just doesn’t feel right.

We put it on the rack and find the alignment isn’t actually the biggest problem.

Sometimes there’s play in a control arm bushing, ball joint, tie rod, or wheel bearing. If a suspension component is moving when it shouldn’t, adjusting the alignment numbers isn’t going to magically fix the car.

That’s why we like to check the steering and suspension before making alignment adjustments.

If something is worn, we’ll show you what we found and explain whether it needs to be addressed now or can wait.

Once everything is tight, then we can properly set the toe, camber, caster, and steering wheel position.

A good alignment isn’t just getting numbers into the green. The car should actually drive right when it leaves.
