Things We See Every Week #2: "The New Tires Didn't Fix It."
A customer came in after replacing all four tires because of a vibration on the freeway.
The vibration was still there.
The tires weren't the problem.
After a quick inspection, we found one of the wheels had a slight bend from a pothole. At low speeds, it wasn't noticeable. At 70 mph, it was enough to cause a vibration through the steering wheel.
It happens more often than people think.
Many vibration complaints can be caused by:
• A bent wheel
• Tire road force variation
• An out-of-balance tire
• A worn suspension component
Replacing parts without identifying the root cause can be frustrating—and expensive.
That's why we always start with a proper inspection before recommending repairs.
Sometimes the fix is exactly what you expected.
Sometimes it's something completely different.
The goal is to solve the problem, not guess at it.
